elementThe
element represents a fifth-level heading. It normally introduces a subsection within a section headed by
. For example, installation instructions headed "Windows" could contain a subsection headed "64-bit builds" using
.
A further subdivision would normally use
, while another
introduces content at the same level. The document can return to a higher rank when these subsections end. When introducing a deeper subsection, advance one rank without skipping a level. Returning to a higher rank can cross several levels when the intervening subsections have ended.
Like the other heading elements,
contains the heading text rather than the content of the whole subsection. Its structural role remains the same when CSS changes its font size or other visual properties. A fifth-level heading can therefore be displayed at whatever size is appropriate for the page's design.
